On August 28, 2020, Governor Newsom an emergency measure AB 3088 extending protections for tenants until Jan. 31, 2021. While the measure allows for eviction judgments as early as October 5, 2020 for tenants who were in default prior to March 1, 2020, landlords can immediately remove tenants that have created a nuisance by using an ex parte motion to obtain a summons.
